The Flamebirds of Orion were hunted to extinction by an unknown alien race. Archeological evidence at several hunting camps around the planet suggest the hunters possessed Galactic-level technology.

The male Flamebird was covered inphosphoresent scale-feathers; to attract mates and to also distract predators on the foggy world. Flamebird headdresses can still be found on the black market.
